May 2, 2021 – Grade 7 (Sunday PM)

5/2/21

Hari om parents,

Prayers

We started the class with pranayamams and three OM's, then each of our children led the beginning prayers one at a time from Karagre to the last one Karacharana. It is nice to hear them.

Then we chanted together the Ramayana Dhyaana slokha

"Neelambuja shyamala komalaangam" (page 129 of My Prayers green book).

Then we recited "Namramyanam bhajan (Balakandam, Ayodhyakandam, Aranyakandam, Kishkindakandam, Sundarakandam, and Yuddhakandam).

Key to Success

We reviewed two flags of Dharma chariot: Satya (thruthfullness) and Sila (good character). Truthfulness means being factually accurate and forthright. Truthfullness is when a person gives his word and fulfills it.

We listened to stories about being thruthfulness; the wolf and the shepherd boy story and George Washington story.

We learned how to develop good character by being in Satsanga, by listening to Naradaji's story. Good company inspires us to have good thoughts; good thoughts prompts good actions; good actions develop good habits and good character.

We listened to Mool chand story describing Nobel actions change the wicked and multiplies.

We discussed horses of Dharma chariot; Bala (strength), Bibeka (Discrimination), Dama (control of senses), Parahita (caring for others).

In Ramayana, Ravana was like frighten dog and wanted to make sure and want to make sure that Lord Rama was not around at that time. Sitaji refused to listen to Ravana. The moral strength is real bala.

Discussion on Quote

Children were given a quote to discuss, "Do one thing at a Time, and while doing it put your whole Soul into it to the exclusion of all else."― Swami Vivekananda

These are the responses from children

Not to multitask, focus on one thing at a time.

Put body, mind knowledge into it.

When playing basketball, practice on shooting, then focus on passing etc., then I want to learn other skills.

Put complete attention into one skill at a time.

Children participated in reading the quote and analyzing what it means to their daily lives.

Brain Break

Then we played wordwall review game based on previous week's lessons from "Key to Success".

Pledge

We concluded with arti and pledge led by one of our students.
