Hari Om All,
We would like to thank you all for attending our first class of the new year of Bala Vihar! This class, which combines 10th, 11th and 12th grade is the biggest session we have Sunday morning and we are very pleased by the turn out, especially given the unusual circumstances we are experiencing! Our curriculum this year will cover the Bhagavadgeeta chapters 13 through 18. To fully cover all aspects of the Geeta, we split the work into three sections of six chapters each and cover the entire work over three years. In addition to covering chapters 13 through 18, we will also learn how to chant Chapter 2 of the Bhagavadgeeta.
During our first class, we got to know each other through student introduction and a brief ice-breaker called 'Who Am I'. Students would be given a character from the Mahaabhaarata and they would give clues regarding their character with the other students trying to guess the identity of the described character. We were impressed with how thoroughly some of our students remembered the Mahaabhaarata. Afterwards, we briefly reviewed the sequence of events that led up to the Bhagavadgeeta - we learned about the ambition of the Kauravas and Arjuna's doubts in fighting his kinsmen. We also reviewed some concepts we had covered in the past chapters like non-doership and the ladder of fall.
For next class, those students who have taken Gita for Me previously are requested to share some of the concepts of the Bhagavadgeeta that resonated with them or perhaps intrigued them. We ask new students to list out some questions they have about the Bhagavadgeeta for discussion next week.
We look forward to seeing you next week. Please take care and stay safe!
Regards,
Raghav and Rashmi
