Hari om parents,
Prayers
We started the class with pranayamams and three OM's, then each of our children led the beginning prayers one at a time from Karagre to the last one Karacharana. It is nice to hear them.
Then we chanted together the Ramayana Dhyaana slokha
"Neelambuja shyamala komalaangam" (page 129 of My Prayers green book).
Then we recited "Namramyanam bhajan (Balakandam, Ayodhyakandam, Aranyakandam, Kishkindakandam, and Sundarakandam).
Key to Success
We reviewed what is secret for life's success from last class.
Then we started topics "Mechanics of the mind", "The fact of our behavior", and "Boomerang".
We discussed what is subjective mind and objective mind with examples. We discussed how to refine our thoughts and learn to living by noble values.
We listened a farmer story who his watch story and learned how to be quite to sharpen our instrument.
We discussed how the Lord is with us. We can do right actions and we gain the right results. We discussed whether we ever compromised a value. Some children shared their experiences when they compromised values; In tennis, to get a point ignoring rules, Studying for a test compromised some lessons. We reviewed how to follow values.
The last lesson was about Boomerang, which is a curved piece of wood that can be thrown and it returns to the thrower. The meaning is what goes around comes around. Life is Boomerang, if we are kind, the world will be kind to us.
Discussion on Quote
Children were given a quote to connect to their daily life, "Take up one idea. Make that idea your life; dream of it; think of it; live on that idea" by Swami Vivekananda
These are the responses from children
Focus on one goal, set your mind to that goal.
If Engineering is the goal, focus constantly on Science and Math.
Take an idea and live on that idea.
Have a goal of one thing like art.
Children participated in reading the quote and analyzing what it means to their daily lives.
Brain Break
Then we played ballon pop review game based on previous week lessons from "Key to Success".
Arti and Pledge
We concluded the class arti followed by a pledge led by one of our students.
