Hari Om Dear Parents,
Here is an update of : Apr 16th, 2021
Likhita Japa, Opening Prayers
Keys to Success:
After a quick recap of last class, we discussed about charioteer and the shield
Charioteer :
If the chariot is all equipped and good but for the charioteer, the mission will be unsuccessful. A charioteer that totally surrenders to the Lord and has true Devotion to God will be an intelligent charioteer. Like in the case of Arjuna, who had true devotion to the Lord. So, Krishna himself was his charioteer. We discussed the importance of surrendering ourselves to the Lord.
Story : An ant was trying to cross a railway platform, without the fear of getting crushed under the feet of people that didnt bother to notice it. It had complete faith in the Lord that the Lord would protect even the lowest of the low. We always come across a situation in life where we need to take a leap of faith. Its this faith that will help us overcome difficulties and attain success.
Shield:
The Shield protects us physically when worn as an armor. Here its synonymous to shielding ourselves from attachment and passion. What begins as an attachment grows into obsession which will only destroy us eventually. We asked kids abour their attachments and if it brought permanent happiness. Many kids expressed attachment to their toys, pokemon cards, etc. We went over how these small attachments could grow into obsession later in life and how it would bring us unhappiness.
When we climb stairs we need to detach ourselves from the lower step to move higher up. Similarly, we need to detach from wrong items and attach ourselves to highter goals.
Story : A young boy stopped taking piano lessons from his teacher all of a sudden. But when it was time for the recital, he approached the teacher and asked her permission to play. The teacher was very hesitant to give the boy a chance but decided to put him in the end. The boy played his song so well that he got a standing ovation. The teacher later learnt that he had stopped coming to the classes because his mother was suffering from cancer. Since she was deaf, she could never hear him play. She passed away on the morning of the recital. The boy then thought that she would be able to hear him play; hence with full faith and the passion to play for his mother outshone his abilities.
