Hari Om! Parents,
Last week Balavihar students participated in House Spirit Day with interesting activities. All children had a lot of fun as did the teachers. This week we concluded Chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita. After reviewing the Tree of Samsara, we discussed pointers given to us by Lord Krishna on Brahman and the 'Asi' concept (Creator and Self are one and the same). To the alert, the Creator is ever evident from the moment we wake up, to every thought we experience and every action we are able to perform. We talked about faith as an important component of spiritual practice. Faith is not opposed to science. Learning about the world is also in effect learning about the Creator. In addition, we must develop our faith in scripture through constant effort. It does not happen overnight even if we have the right intentions. Consistent and focused practice will remind us of our ultimate goal and help us navigate the course. Our daily Self care routine can include a few minutes of whatever suits our temperament that day - chanting prayers, japa, pranayama, quiet contemplation, meditation, reading/listening to commentary on scripture by recognized masters, writing gratitude journal, or selfless community service. This practice will help us to build and maintain an unbroken wi-fi signal with the Lord!
Thank you,
Aruna and Sirisha
