Hari Om Parents!
Today was the eleventh class of Balavihar!! Here is the summary of what we covered in class today:
After everyone joined the Zoom session:
1. We started the class with Opening prayers by chanting Om three times and then we all together chanted Sahana vavatu.
2. As its the first class in the new year, we chanted Ganesha slokhas, Sarawathi slokha and Guru slokha as well.
3. Attendance was taken by each kid saying Hari Om when their name was called out.
4. Most of the kids shared with us what they did during the holidays.
5. We did the alphabet chant until letter G and then introduced the letter H -is for Happiness and during Brainstorming session, we discussed various instances which makes us happy and sad. And explained that Happiness is a state of the mind and is actually not related to any object or person.
6. During Exploration time, through various examples, we explained that we should be content with what we have and be happy in all situations and always encourage happy thoughts.
7. Next we did Yoga, some of the kids led this session, we did tree pose, soldier pose, etc.
8. Next, we introduced the next letter I - stands for Intelligence and that Intelligence is the mental ability of understanding and learning new facts,
9. And we had a Brainstorming session where in kids were asked questions on what is mind? what is Intellect? and explained that Intellect helps us decide what is right and what is wrong and our Mind helps us recognize specific object or situation. And that our intellect gives us good advice; but, to become a good person, we must also learn to listen to our intellect, just as we listen to our parents.
10. During Exploration time, we learnt the difference between humans and animals is that humans possess a well developed mind and an intellect, while animals do not. And that we need to use our Intellect wisely by making right choices.
11. During Story time, One of kids told the story of the Celestial Fruit, through which we learnt that, you use your intellect, to become victorious.
12. Kids were asked to solve the Ganesha jigsaw puzzle as an exit ticket. (Parents to cut along the marked lines and scramble the pieces for the Ganesha puzzle)
13. Then we chanted the Krishna bhajan with couple of kids leading the chant. And then kids were asked to practice BG Ch 2 verses 1 and 2 for next class.
14. Lastly, we said the closing prayers and concluded the session.
Another exciting session with our wonderful kids. Kids were happily participating and sharing their views. Wishing all parents a very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2021 !! And thank you parents for sitting through the session to help the kids. This class, we learnt the next two letters of the alphabets H and I in the vedantic way.
Due to long weekend, we don't have class next Sunday. Next class is only on Jan 24th 2021.
