Hari Om!
We started the class with beginning prayers followed by the second verse of Lingashtakam.
We conducted a body awareness meditation.
The Bhajan Raghupathi Raghav was sung and we explored the connection of this song with the day, Oct 2. One of the students was able to identify as Gandhi Jayanti and we briefly talked about his journey, starting with seeing discrimination in South Africa and carrying on as non violent, non cooperation in India later on.
Since none of the students have watched Gandhi, the film by Attenborough, may we suggest watching it as a family activity?
Following this was the recap of previous week's class. Cause and effect or Karma and Karma Phala was brought back to memory to lay the path for the understanding that one must set high and noble goals, remember the goal constantly and consciously refine oneself to reach the goal.
The students talked about, " Where do I see myself 10/15 years from now" .They also talked about the person they looked up to as having lead a good, refined ,successful life.
Some of the responses-
I want to be more responsible.
I want to have good financial status.
I want to make a lot of money.
I want to have a large house and shop without a budget.
I want to see myself happy.
I want to be carefree.
I want to have a house facing the beach in California.
Among the people who the students looked up to-
Elon Musk for his passion
Dad, cousin, brother, parents
The students said they admired the work ethic, the smartness, the working hard to provide for the family.

We shared a story about our willingness to change for the better and knock off our bad habits and accomplish the goals in our life.
An eagle can live upto 70 years. But by the age of 40, its claws and beak can no longer grab a prey and its heavy feathers make it difficult to fly. So the eagle now has 2 choices,
It can undergo the painful process of knocking off its beak and plucking off the feathers or dying. But when it undergoes the painful process for 5 months, it can live another 30 years. So the choice is ours.
Talked about the wonderful faculty of our memory and our remembrance of our experiences of our childhood etc..
The Lord in us is the unchanging substratum that notices and remembers all our memories from childhood to adulthood.
We chanted the Bhagavad Geeta along with Swamiji. Please listen and chant along as a family. There are additional coaching sessions also that the student can make use of.
The students took turns singing the arathi and the pledge.
The next class is on Oct 9.
Pranaam
Nirmala and Uma

********* Material used in class ************
I am the one who writes my story
I decide the person I want to be
I am unique and a masterpiece of the lord
You can become a Shakespeare, Michaelangelo or a Beethoven if you wish
I am the author of my life
What would you like to become in, say, 15 years?
Are you able to change your bad habits and try and reach your goal?
How do I live by Samskriti?
I must generate good causes to have good effects in the future
Take charge of your life and change for the better
Each of us has the capacity to raise ourselves to the level of our Pujya Gurudev
The principle of memory
Memory is an amazing faculty we have where our life events are stored in great detail
For example, you can recall your birthday party very well with all the details
Our memory can also store complex things like Math and Science problems by which we can write an exam
Our brain has the ability to repair memory that gets damaged in an accident or due to some disease
