Dear Parents,

· Please review the Gurustotram verse 1 (Page 61 in My Prayers book)
· Ask your child about the takeaways in today's class
· Support your child to get in habit of writing 'Rama's' name every day in their notebook
· Review the Geeta chanting link given with your child
If your child is unable to make it to class, please let us know by Whatsapp, or email. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Have a wonderful blessed week!
1. Slokas and Bhajans:
· We kicked off with Om chanting 3 times followed by daily opening prayer (Om Sahana Vavatu - Page 8 of My Prayers book)
· We learnt a new Bhajan - Sri Ram Jaya Ram Jaya Ram
· We learnt one Gurustotram Slokah (Verses to Teacher) - Please make child practice verse 1 of Gurustotram in page 61 of My Prayers book
2. Meditation time and Yoga tree pose:
· We learnt to do quiet time by writing Likitha Japa of Rama's name 11 times
· We did our tree pose to get some energy out
3. Story time:
· We reviewed what happened in Prince Rama's story last week, about Ayodhya, King Dasaratha and why the King was sad. Then we discussed how when the King had a problem , he got help from his teacher, Vasishta. The King was advised to do a Yaga.
· We talked about what a Yaga means, what happened during the Yaga, and how a heavenly person ('Yagna Purusha') provided the payasam for the King Dasaratha to give to his three wives.
· We talked about how the Queens Kausalya and Kaikeyi shared their Payasam with the third queen Sumithra, and that made Sumithra have twins. The queens were 'ready' to share their Payasam and not keep it to themselves.
· Main Takeaways from today's story:
1. When we have a problem, we get help from our parents, or teachers to solve it. Pray to God for strength and guidance.
2. Sharing is caring
4. Activity:
· Coloring activity of the Yaga was done
5. We wrapped up with Geeta Chanting, closing prayers and Aarti. Geeta chanting details are below.
6. Geeta Chanting:
· We learnt context on what Chapter 2 of Bhagavad Geeta was about. We learnt how we always start Geeta chanting by saying, 'Om sri paramatmane namah' to thank the Lord.
· We reviewed pronunciation of the challenging words in this chapter - Link to video is here
Pranams to you!
Best regards,
Priya and ArunaChinmaya Vrindavan
